Kangana Ranaut’s movie Emergency, which goes deep into one of India’s darkest political periods, has itself been sucked into a whirlpool of drama, controversies, and chaos. If Emergency was a person, it would probably be screaming, “Mujhe toh meri story hi jeene nahi de rahe! “
CBFC Drama: Emergency ko Lagi Red Light
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has been the strict desi parent in this saga. Kangana recently alleged, “Emergency has been imposed on Emergency too!” Her grouse was what she perceived as deliberate delays by the CBFC in certifying her film. CBFC ne certificate rok diya, Matlab, censorship ka ekdum meta-level chal raha hai yahaan.
It is learned that the movie was sent through a series of cuts before CBFC finally cleared the film for screening. It’s as if the CBFC had declared, “Ab to edit nahi karne ke baavjood, pass karne ki sochna bhi mat!”
Adding more mirch-masala to the controversy, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) condemned the film and expressed outrage, stating that some scenes may misrepresent Sikhs. They asked Kangana, “Kya aapke research mein hum kaha fit nahi baithe?” Meanwhile, Harsimrat Kaur Badal also chimed in, accusing the film of trying to incite communal tensions.
A Twitter user perfectly summed up the drama:
“Emergency ka toh yeh haal hai ki script likhne se release tak sirf naye naye dushman ban rahe hain.”
Finally, after much rona-dhona and political mudslinging, Emergency got its U/A certificate. Reports say Kangana agreed to certain cuts, including toning down dialogues that were “too blunt.” Basically, CBFC ne bola hoga, “Thoda kam bold hona seekho, Kangana ji!” While no official release date has been set yet, whispers suggest it’s around the corner. Hopefully, Emergency apni “emergency state” se jaldi bahar niklegi.
